TDB0015: Do not be discouraged

1 Kings 19:
7 And the angel of the Lord returned the second time, and touched him, saying, Arise, and eat: for a long way is left.

Commentary

Every day, short or long begins with the first step, but the journey can be extended if we take bad steps. Discouragement is one of the situations that can lengthen a day or stop it altogether. The people of Israel had a day to the promised land of a mere 40 days; however they became discouraged and it took them 40 years. His criticisms were an obvious sign of discouragement.

Exodus 16: 3 And the children of Israel said unto them, Would that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat in the pots of flesh, when we ate bread to satiety; For you have brought us into this wilderness to starve the whole multitude.

And again

Numbers 11: 5 We remembered the fish we had eaten in Egypt in vain, the cucumbers, the melons, the leeks, the onions, and the garlic;

These complaints were signs of discouragement  after they had left Egypt with joy. the discouragement was such that they wanted to be slaves again! How many of us say the same thing? “Why did I get into this, so good that I was before I started doing this? Not only this, others discourage you: “you should not have done that, now you are worse than before”, “that is not your ministry, you have not had anything successful” or even recommend you leave it completely not knowing if success is just around the corner.

Many of us have started a company and we have left it half-way and sometimes even regretted having started. When you started it was with great enthusiasm, but you found the discouragement. God hated the discouragement of Israel, in fact, in their discouragement proclaimed judgment against themselves

Numbers 14: 2 And they complained against Moses and against Aaron all the children of Israel; And all the multitude said unto them, Would that we should die in the land of Egypt; Or in this desert I wish we would die!

Numbers 14:22 All who saw my glory and my signs which I have done in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me ten times, and have not heard my voice. , 23 they shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers; No, none of those who have irritated me will see her.

Discouragement is an emotion, but if you take it seriously it could destroys you. We all get a disappointment, a discouragement, but we should not accommodate that emotion because it is a satanic tool to destroy your purpose or even the purpose of God for your life.

God is the source of our spirit, the one who looks at him will never be discouraged. Satan however likes to discourage. God said to Joshua;

Joshua 1: 6 Be strong and courageous; For you shall give this people for an inheritance the land of which I swore to their fathers that I would give it to them.

Those were a word of encouragement; God says to Israel

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Do not be dismayed, for I am your God who gives you strength; I will always help you, I will always support you with the right hand of my justice.

Be encourage  knowing that God Himself is on our side, this is a reason not to get discouraged in any company we undertake. Elijah was a man of God, a prophet whose faith in God was admirable; by his prayer the rain stopped and by his word fell again, but he became discouraged and wanted to fall asleep.

1 Kings 19: 6 Then he looked, and I Here at his head a baked cake on the embers, and a vessel of water; And ate and drank, and went back to sleep.

But God told him to get up, and revive him, for he still needs to fulfill his purpose. While sleeping is healthy, sleeping is a sign of discouragement and depression. If you are discouraged you have good company in the Bible, great men of God were discouraged, like Elijah, Jeremiah, but in the same way that God encouraged them and was with them today tells us: arise that there is still a way to go and victories To achieve.
